a day at the hospital

This was a post from May 2007 that I came across

Wed. May 28th, 11:45am Rhiannon is 33 weeks. She calls me and tells me to clear my day, she's going to the hospital. She had her scheduled check up with the midwife but her blood pressure was running so high, the midwife had to send her down for more testing. The fear was Preclamsia which would mean Carter wasn't getting enough oxygen from her blood and...yes, worse case scenario, they told her they would need to induce labor immediately.

Rush to the hospital, blood testing, monitors, baby's heart rate and vitals are great, blood pressure going down naturally with additional H2O but now there are mild contractions every 2 minutes, not painful, just present and causes concern because of the frequency. Check for dilation, nothing going on there so they give her Tributeral (like adrenaline) to elicit fight or flight response which make the contractions go away. Long story short, 4 hrs at the hospital, lots of concern for her and Carter's health and today, everything checks out okay so far. Stay tuned, Carter may be early. (spoiler...he wasn't early)
